RENFREW PREP was established with the thought of developing young student athletes in order to prepare them for their future careers at the NCAA, U-SPORT and College level. With the experience of our staff we are committed to drive and deliver the best results for our athletes. We are looking to promote basketball within the community by working closely with the town of Renfrew and are planning to be involved in many community activities where our players and coaching staff will be involved. 

RENFREW PREP provides a rural alternative to urban prep academies. Here, we limit the noise of urban surroundings and replace distraction with focus and determination. Education and basketball will be the focal point of the student-athletes, while embracing the rural environment of Renfrew, Ontario.

The RENFREW PREP vision is to be the number one elite academy that supports youth in academic, personal, and player development.

  • RENFREW PREP to compete nationally and internationally throughout the 2023/24 season

  • We are building affordable youth basketball house league programs

  • Our youth academy will be the foundation for Renfrew Prep. Student athletes will start in our youth programs and grow within the Prep school academy.

  • Introducing RENFREW PREP women’s team in the upcoming seasons

  • Student athletes will be volunteering in after hours basketball programs with the academy

  • RENFREW PREP summer camps and clinics throughout the year

Who is Renfrew Prep for?

Student athletes in High School who are looking for serious playerdevelopment and scholarship opportunities at the NCAA, U-SPORT and College level

High School students who are in their fifth year of study (post-graduate) and are looking for an additional year to develop professionally, academically, and athletically

Renfrew Prep Program

  • Our student athletes will be provided with elite-level coaching for both skills training and strength and conditioning. Our academy is stacked with all the resources players will need when it comes to athletic performance including player growth and development, mindset, sportsmanship, athleticism, and sport nutrition.

  • RENFREW PREP has academic advisors that work closely with student athletes to help navigate school and course selection, as well as provide assistance and/or additional resources for academics to ensure success. Whether we are travelling or at home, students will always have access to support.

  • Athletes enrolled in RENFREW PREP will be living with billet families (unless local). This means student athletes have the opportunity to build a sense of self and independence before entering College/University. Here, players will learn the basics of living on their own while still having support from their billet family. The expectation is that student athletes participate in basic chores and household duties, take initiative with their studies, and practice accountability and punctuality.

  • Athletes enrolled in RENFREW PREP will be expected to regularly volunteer their time by participating in after-school basketball programs (volunteer coaching and reffing youth programs and tournaments), and participating in community events. We emphasize the importance of volunteering and leadership as part of student-athlete development and believe these skills to be necessary for personal growth and future success.

Billet Families

Renfrew Prep Basketball provides accommodations through host families that are carefully selected for our athletes which provide a safe and supportive environment to live in.

Athletes will have their own private space but will also be expected to participate in small household chores, punctuality, and communication with the family.

To insure the most safety, our host families are required to complete background checks, personal interviews, and provide references.

Accommodation fees are determined upon admission and will be directed to the families.
